Underground Recording Studios' goal is to provide high quality audio recording services at a price that is easily affordable.
Why?
The Studio was designed with the idea that quality sound reproduction doesn't have to cost fifty dollars an hour or more. The owner of Underground has performed with Bands for years and personally understands the problem of needing a good sounding demo, and coming up with the thousands of dollars it can take to pay for time in a high end studio. In this day and age in the music industry, the small fish have to stick together. Just because you have not yet gone national, no-longer means you have to sound like you recorded in your garage.
How?
In recent years, great strides have been made in recording mediums, making high quality sound recording equipment affordable to more people. One of the largest movements has been the induction of Alesis' ADAT. Many companies have followed, but the ADAT still leads the pack with fuller sound and better editing capabilities than any other. The other big leader in it's field is the line of Mackie 8 Bus Mixing consoles. Their versatility and nearly transparent sound quality rival high end consoles making Mackie the only choice for a midrange studio with compact discs in mind. Digital Performer software and a Macintosh G3 add more MIDI tracks than you can imagine and up to 32 tracks of real time audio, all synced flawlessly to the ADATS. With these great pieces of electronics coupled with a careful selection of microphones, and Underground Recording Studios is on its way to providing great sounding products at a very affordable price.
But 'Digital' recordings don't sound the same.
Correct. Digital recording is capable of capturing a wider, totally flat bandwidth unlike Analog tapes. This is most noticeable in the higher frequencies. These frequencies have always been there, but Analog tape has problems capturing them. Your ear is not used to hearing these tones in recorded music or reproduced sound making them seem 'unnatural'. This effect is able to be overcome. One of the different methods is to pass the signal through a tube preamp during mixdown. This gives you total control over the 'warmth' for that 'Analog' sound without sacrificing the incredible clarity available with digital equipment.
I've seen equipment lists like this before, how do I know you're any good?
Underground Recording Studios has been producing high quality projects for over four years. Before that, I ran the studio for a year at my college where I also studied studio audio recording. Prior to and during college, I spent many hours in various other studios a musician, an engineer or a producer. It has been well over thirteen years since I first laid hands on a recording console. The proof is in the listening. Set up an appointment to stop by the studio and listen to some past projects. Or head to the Credits and Sound Demo page for a few samples in MP3 format. Nothing beats hearing it yourself.
This is all interesting, is there a second page?
Yep. Just click the CD.
